Two full papers accepted at ECIS 2024

Exciting news from our cutting-edge Human-Centered AI-based Learning Lab! 🌟

We’re thrilled to share our latest breakthroughs in the world of education and AI. We had two groundbreaking papers at the prestigious ECIS 2024 conference were accepted.

In the first paper, “Investigating the Influence of Kolb’s Learning Cycle Embedded in Conversational Agents on Learning Outcomes,” authored by Alexander Becker from the University of Kassel and Dr. Thiemo Wambsganss from Bern University of Applied Sciences, we delve into the intersection of experiential learning and conversational agents. By integrating Kolb’s Learning Cycle, our study demonstrates how learners guided by a Conversational Agent achieved superior outcomes in practical knowledge verification. This innovative approach showcases the power of merging experiential learning principles with Conversational Agents to enhance educational results.

In the second paper, “Towards Effective AI-Driven Reading Assistants: A Design Science Exploration,” authored by Martin Hänel, Matthias Söllner, and Dr. Thiemo Wambsganss, we explore the realm of AI-driven reading assistants. Drawing on Design Science Research (DSR) and flow theory, we develop and evaluate five design principles for computer-assisted reading systems. Our findings offer invaluable insights for researchers and practitioners, guiding the effective design and evaluation of AI-driven reading tools.

These papers represent significant milestones in our quest to revolutionize education through innovative technologies. We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the academic discourse and look forward to sharing more updates from our ongoing projects!
